Gardens are very individual and personal. They are formed from our own tastes and aesthetics. What we grow depends on what we desire or need. This year we decided to allow the space by our willow to grow free. Let whatever plant that wants to grow, grow! We did this for two reasons. First, it was for the bees. They love clover and the variety of food. Secondly, it was simple… to see what came up. We invited a little “wildness” into our garden.
So far, we have identified an endangered weed, seen to the far left of the photo, and we have a little more sound at night with grasshoppers and crickets. A bonus is my black cat Luna loves the coolness and solitude the high grass brings.
By the beech tree, we threw wildflower seeds, and this makes it a great place to sip your morning coffee or relax with a cup of tea. Allowing spaces like these has been rewarding because it gives us more to see, more to learn, and brings even more nature into our environment. It added surprises!
Summer is reaching its height of color and aromas, filling the senses with rich goodness. Take a walk by a meadow or field. Perhaps you will see yellow and orange calendulas, blue cornflowers, or bright red poppies. Whatever the case, life is full of color! It is vibrating, humming and buzzing pure energy! And we can see the same vibrant colors in our loved ones, our hobbies, or our family dog. These “wildflowers” are the things that make us smile and color our world with joy and laughter. Imagine how drab life would be without them.

Here’s a visual exercise…
Picture a blank landscape in front of you and for every person you love, insert a wildflower. Your pets, your best friend, ALL your friends are each a new flower. The instrument you love to play, that life-changing book you received, or maybe your whole community gives you joy! How many flowers are there so far? I pray your field is full of flowers of joy, friendship, and most of all love.
